About Belinda Alexander

Belinda

Belinda began her career in the fashion industry at Harrods working in 'Way In' in 1972 as personal assistant to the General Manager Tim Moseley. Before that she had studied art and fashion in Paris at a Finishing School where she became fluent in French.

After leaving Harrods, Belinda moved to 'Parker Humphries' - a well-known fashion production and choreography company based in Knightsbridge. Here she learnt the craft of 'styling and accessorising' and sourcing models for the large scale fashion shows she became responsible for producing in the UK and Germany.

As she was a similar size and shape to many of the models she employed she was soon encouraged to become a model herself and became one of the last catwalk models for the famous couturier Hartnell - not surprising really as her grandmother was one of the first! She also modelled for Escada in London, Paris and Hong Kong.

At the same time she started teaching at The London School of Modelling where her lifetime passion for teaching the young confidence and control of their body language began. As schools have now become more aware of the need to prepare their students for the outside world Belinda is much in demand to run Life Skills courses which include teaching the art of conversation, interview technique, grooming, personal health, and above all courtesy and good manners.

Apart from her teaching Belinda also has another business interest called 'Fashion People' which she runs with her partner Gail Little. This offers a personal shopping and styling service as well as fashion show productions. Belinda and Gail are particularly well known in The Newcastle Metro Centre as 'The Shopping Angels'.
